Rio Branco Airport

Located about 18 km from the center of the capital city of Rio Branco, the Rio Branco International airport is the main airfield in the state of Acre. It has a runway with 2,158 meters long and serves domestic, international, general and military aviation, with regular airline operations and an important number of air cabs.
Rio Branco is the country’s westernmost capital and lies on the banks of the river Acre, which gives its name to the state. It lies on the triple border between Brazil, Peru and Bolivia and has a different time zone to Brasilia, with two hours less than the federal capital. Rio Branco Airport joined the VINCI Airports network in January 2022 under a 30-year concession contract awarded by the Brazilian Civil Aviation Authority in April 2021.
VINCI Airports has completed the modernisation of seven airports in Brazil’s northern region, consolidating the improvements made to airport infrastructure in the Amazon region. To mark the official handover, a ceremony was held on Thursday 28 November at Porto Velho airport, attended by Brazil’s Minister of Ports and Airports, Silvio Costa Filho, the National Secretary of Aviation, Thomé França, and several local elected representatives.
This major works programme is part of the commitment made by VINCI Airports when it acquired the Amazon airports in 2021. A total of 1.4 billion reais worth of works have been carried out at the airports of Manaus (AM), Tefé (AM), Tabatinga (AM), Porto Velho (RO), Boa Vista (RR), Rio Branco (AC) and Cruzeiro do Sul (AC), to improve safety, accessibility, comfort and operational efficiency. These improvements offer a better passenger experience and stimulate local economic development by strengthening air links between the Amazon, Brazil and the rest of the world.
At Rio Branco airport, modernisation work has made the terminal more functional, with significant improvements to infrastructure, sanitary facilities and the boarding area. Thanks to the modernisation of the runway, operations are safer and more efficient, enabling the airport to be ready to respond to an increase in passenger and freight traffic.
