Guanacaste Airport

Located on the Pacific coast in Libera, Guanacaste airport (LIR) is a key link in the national strategy to develop eco-tourism. Guanacaste airport is widely recognized for the quality of its services and the experience offered to its passengers. Since 2019, the airport has been named by ACI as the best airport in Latin America and the Caribbean (2 million passenger category).

In 2021, Guanacaste Airport will join ACI’s carbon emissions reduction program by achieving ACA Level 2 accreditation for its environmental actions. The airport has an installed solar capacity of 2.75 kw.

In 2023, it was also awarded the prize for the best passenger route. Guanacaste airport received the “Green Airport Recognition 2023” award from the Airports Council International of Latin America and the Caribbean (ACI-LAC). This recognition highlights the best environmental and sustainability practices implemented by airports in the Latin America and Caribbean region.
