London Gatwick Airport

The United Kingdom’s second largest airport and one of Europe’s top 10, London Gatwick was integrated into VINCI Airports global airport network in 2019, making it our busiest hub. London Gatwick airport is strategically located to the south of London as its second largest airport, handles over 43 million passengers per annum and serves +200 destinations all around the world. It has strong relationships with some leading airlines including easyJet and British Airways and operates the busiest single runway in the world.
In 2023, London Gatwick airport has achieved Level 4+ ‘Transition’ carbon accreditation. The same year, London Gatwick received the ACI Eco Innovation Award for Environmental Excellence and opened its dedicated STEM Centre – a bespoke, hands-on space to engage and teach school children across the region about science, technology, engineering and maths, and aviation.
Guided by VINCI Airports’ global environment strategy to reach zero net emissions (Scopes 1 and 2) in the European Union and London Gatwick, the airport implemented HVO (hydrotreated vegetable oil) across most of its fleet in 2024 with the objective to reduce carbon emissions from diesel vehicles by 90%. The onsite materials recovery facility allows London Gatwick airport to repurpose 59% of commercial and operational waste.
Early 2024, London Gatwick has become the first international airport to open an Electric Forecourt®, a dedicated electric vehicle (EV) charging station, with the new GRIDSERVE facility available for all.
To accelerate on the hydrogen way, London Gatwick, Airbus, easyJet and Air Products, – one of the world’s largest hydrogen producers-, have formed the London Gatwick Hydrogen Hub in July 2024.
London Gatwick airport is also enhancing passenger experience and operational efficiency with a new Rapid Exit Taxiway and a £250 million train station concourse. The taxiway enables arriving aircraft to leave the runway more efficiently, increasing resilience, reducing delays and limiting carbon and noise emissions.
